Yabby
A freshwater crayfish that is often caught for food. They are found in dams, ponds, lakes, and rivers throughout eastern states in Australia. At first sight, yabbies look very similar to lobsters, only smaller.
Yak
The highest dwelling mammal in the world, living at altitudes up to 20,000 feet. They have more than one stomach which allows them to get all of the nutrients out of the plants that they eat. Female yaks typically give birth in June and will give birth to a single calf every other year.
Yellow Ground Squirrel
These squirrels are found on treeless grasslands and shrublands at high altitudes in Asia. Like other rodents, yellow ground squirrels must gnaw to keep their front teeth filed down.
